Her first inspiration to work on sound and music for theatre came from a trip to Trinidad while working on the play Carnival Messiah with Geraldine Connor. Her interest in Caribbean culture is ongoing and she cites Ella Andall, a Caribbean singer and composer, as an important mentor. Her most complete musical to date is Dubwise Lik staged at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in 2009 which told the story of a Caribbean immigrant Donovan Ottley and his search for solutions in the face of injustice and prejudice. She has composed music for the play First Cut directed by Gail McIntyre at the Yorkshire Playhouse and Firebird for Phoenix Dance amongst others.
